Andres Olesk from Estonia secured a convincing overall win at the 2010 World Logging Championships in Zagreb, Croatia. Andres uses a Jonsered CS 2171, a chainsaw model that is particularly popular in competitive contexts, thanks to its slim, well-balanced saw body and rapid acceleration. Qualities that make the Jonsered CS 2171 especially easy to use when limbing, despite its big 70cc capacity.
After an important victory in the Bucking by Combined Cuts event, Andres was in ninth place overall, before the decisive event: Limbing. The dramatic final heat, where Gerhard Briechle from Germany had the chain fall off his Stihl chainsaw, can be viewed below.
One reason why Andres Olesk competes using a Jonsered CS 2171 is that he prefers the characteristic 90-degree angle on the saw’s front handle. See the victory interview with the gold-medal winner below.
Another Jonsered user took home a gold medal at the 2010 WLC: Ole Kjaer from Denmark won the Precision Bucking event, using a Jonsered W 2071. We look forward to seeing Andres Olesk, Ole Kjaer and the other Jonsered users on the starting line in future World Logging Championships. Good luck with your preparations!
