JONSERED CS 2245 is rated 4.1429 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from indestructible I have a 25 year old Jonsered. I probably have felled and cut up 50 large trees over the years. I dropped it in the river once and it still worked. I hadn't used it in a couple of years and I recently added some gas and to my surprise it fired right up

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent saw I purchased this saw to help clean up a 7 acre lot. Location is central Colorado at an elevation of about 9,600 feet. Wood is mostly aspen (dead and some green) and a few old pine logs. I have owned Craftsman (Roper) as well as Stihl, Pioneer, and Homelite saws in the past. I also use the saw at home at an elevation of about 5,000 feet and have had no problems with it in starting or running. The Jonsered is a middle-weight saw (16 inch bar, .325 pitch chain) and has worked very well for me over the past several months. I have cut about 3 cord of wood so far and felled quite a few small (10 inch or less) trees. Largest cuts were in old pine logs about 16 inches through which the saw handled with no problem. Have had no issues starting the saw, follow instructions with choke on, press primer bulb several times, a couple pulls and it starts. Warm it fires on first pull. Only characteristic I had to get used to was this saw does not have a lot of low-speed torque so one has to make sure the chain is spinning mid-range before applying it to the cut. My old Roper had an edge in this respect. In all other way this is one of the best saws I have owned. Starts easily, runs well, idles nicely, good power, good capacity for bar oil and fuel. I am old school and miss a manual oiler, but given the rate at which I refill the bar chain oil it appears there is plenty of lubrication being applied. Weight is good as I carry this saw around the lot quite a bit to cut standing and downed dead trees. (I also cut a pathway for a 700 foot driveway, mostly small-diameter green aspen.) The firewood I have cut is all aspen and pine, no hardwood so I cannot speak to performance in tougher cutting environments. I do believe the saw would perform well in those conditions. The Jonsered is more expensive than other brands but I feel it will be worth the extra cost in longevity and over-all performance. I did buy a carry case for it and use a Stihl 3/16 (.325 pitch) sharpening kit for chain maintenance. I also use higher-end synthetic 2-stroke oil in 91 octane fuel. I would recommend this saw to anyone looking for an all-around saw to use for firewood cutting, lot clearing, and general use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Saw!! Purchased the CS 2245 at my local dealer. Dealer was great, gave a demo, filled up the tank with fuel and oil. Got the saw home it starts easy and is the best cutting saw I have ever owned. The 2245 is well built and I look forward to using the saw for many years. Great product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good saw I have been using chainsaws for many years, heat our home with wood. I have had a lot of different brands & models and recently bought a CS2245. I am very happy with the saw, it is easy to start and has a lot of power. Took me a bit to get used to the choke/high idle setup but now after getting used to it I actually prefer it. It is comfortable to handle, not real heavy but made well and it a nice looking saw. It is also good on fuel, you can cut a lot of wood on a tank of gas & bar oil. As I mentioned earlier it has a lot of power, and I imagine it will have even more after it gets broke in. Jonsered has a winner with the CS2245, a lot of saw for the money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just bought another one This is my second review and my second 2245 saw. My second saw is the new 2013 model. I like the newer model better if you can get your hands on the carburetor adjusting tool. At first I did not like the choke system. I was a bit too quick to judge on that. The choke can be positioned like what I wanted, just didn't' realize it at first. Now that I have used the saw for a while, it is my favorite saw that I have ever used! It is about the same size as my old Poulan, maybe a little smaller. The CS 2245 has much more power than my old Poulan. It also has much higher rpm. I underestimated the 2245, this saw is the whoop! Heck, I may even buy a third one!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Won't Start I bought this saw today. I returned it today. I couldn't get it to start. The folks at the dealership couldn't get it to start. Very disappointing. This is the first Jonesred product I've ever purchased. I probably won't buy another based on this experience. The Jonesred wouldn't even fire. I gave it nice fresh 87 octane gasoline mixed in the correct ratio with the proper Jonesred fuel additive for two-cycle engines. I primed the engine correctly. I put choke/start switch in the correct position. I pulled the handle over and over again. It did not fire once. I checked to see if the spark plug was connected. It was. The plug was in the cylinder nice and tight. I let the saw sit just in case I flooded. Tried it again. Nothing. Nadda. Junk. I took it back and they couldn't start it at the dealership either. They asked me if I wanted another Jonesred or if I wanted my money back. No brainer, that. I took the money. I gave the saw 5 stars for durability because it's bound to last forever if it never starts. PS I've owned chain saws from Stihl to cheap Homelites. The Homelite 23av is the only one that started on the first or second pull, every time. Come on Jonesred. Get it together.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Living in the Twilight Zone After all these new restrictions from the government, so far this is hopefully the only saw that I have found that will operate in the winter. It does have one of the worse choke systems I have ever seen. It does not even compare to my old $99 Poulan saw, but it looks like it is probably the best saw for winter cutting you can find these days. Very sad. I think our government makes these emission laws just to cause problems. I only want three things from a saw. 1. A primer bulb. 2. Adjustable carburetor. 3. Adjustable choke. My only real complaint is the choke is ridiculously difficult to adjust, that is probably the fault of the EPA. The saw may deserve 5 stars comparing it to all of the newer saws available, but I can only give it 3 stars comparing it to my old Poulan. The new Poulans are worthless. The Sthil saws do not even have a primer bulb! Those are junk. I have to cut wood every day in the winter to keep my house warm. I need a saw that will do the job without failure. Hopefully this saw will do it, I think it will.
